Atlanta Celebrates MLK Day…. Not alot of VIPs
Downtown Auburn Avenue, Ebenezer Baptist Church, home to Atlanta's own Martin Luther King Jr. The crowd was not like previous celebrations. The feel, the excitement just wasn't there. No notable dignitaries were in the house, unless you count Cornel West, Kasim Reed, Former Governor Roy Barnes, Elgin Bell or Republican U.S. Johnny Isaacson [haha].
In the past we've seen the likes of presidents, vice presidents, governors, civil rights leaders, dignitaries from all over world, none showed. Just to think, we've elected our first African-American President, he didn't show either. No cronies, no Chief of Staff, no advisors, not a soul from Washington!
Is this change in America? Sure it is! But is this the kind of change we want. I went to sleep, (with all honesty) thinking the Commander-in-Chief, the President of these 50 states, the head huncho himself would show his face. We got to Ebenzer and guess what..... No president, no cronies
.... I would have been happy with old Joe.
