Looking for Fresh High Quality Asian Food in an Elegant Dining Atmosphere

Better polish up those chopstick skills, because the food coming out of this swanky Buckhead restaurant will keep you busy for at least two or three lychee martinis….
All in all I’d say we had a nice dining experience at the swanky Aja Restaurant located in Buckhead Atlanta. I had a taste for sushi and from the exert above, I figured this place would hit the spot. Before entering the restaurant we were greeted by the very friendly gentlemen working valet, which is complimentary. I love dining at places were you don’t have to battle for parking. When we entered the building we were greeted by the very pleasant host staff who offered us indoor or outdoor seating. We did decide to sit on the patio to enjoy the summer breeze of the evening. As we walked through the dining room to the patio we admired the beauty of the Asian inspired décor. You can truly feel the richness of the culture that went into the design. It’s very dim but as the same time very inviting.
Once we reached our table we were greeted by Angel who would be our server for the evening. She had a very pleasant demeanor. My guest and I ordered water and I also ordered one of their signature drinks the Lychee Sangria. The citrusy drink was delicious and beautiful to look at but it did seem to water down very quickly causing it to lose its deliciousness pretty fast. From there Angel took our food order. As we waited for our entrees, a server assistant bought us a dish of what we found out to be an assortment of Pickled Vegetables. Our server explained that the Pickled Vegetables help to “spike” the appetite.
For starters we had the Dragon Roll, which is tempera shrimp, avocado, cucumber and a couple other mouthwatering ingredients. I love eating sushi with eel sauce and I had to wait a little, just a little longer than I thought was necessary to be bought the eel sauce. After receiving the eel sauce I definitely enjoyed the sushi. With perfect timing our entrees came out. My guest ordered the Sechuan Peppered Beef and substituted the white or yellow rice for chicken fried rice. I ordered the Honey Glazed Ginger Chicken and substituted my rice for shrimp friend rice. The colors and the presentation of everything we had that evening was very beautiful on the eyes. The food wasn’t breath taking but definitely very good. We couldn’t finish eating everything that we had ordered so Angel had everything boxed up for us. But we couldn’t leave without ordering dessert. We decided to try their signature Coconut Ice Cream for our choice. While waiting for dessert my guest was attacked by a giant bug that was flying around. We survived lol!!! Dessert comes, and I must say that it was very interesting but also refreshing and and expected visually beautiful. If you are a BIG Coconut fan you will love this dessert as the ingredients are very very fresh.
We finish dessert and Angle brings us our To Go bags. We paid and thanked her for a wonderful evening. We used our Scoutmob discount which automatically added 18% gratuity. Then the server instead of bringing the change back and allowing us to leave what we like on top of the 18% gratuity decides to come by the table without the check book in hand just in case we answered “no” to the next question which was “did you want change back?”. No biggie, just could have been handled differently.
So our dining experience has come to an end. Again the host staff is very kind as we depart and the valet were very prompt with the car. All in all I would say a B++ almost A evening… BUT… the next day when I rush home to eat my left overs I realize that restaurant mixed up my guest and I entrees. So I definitely wasn’t pleased about not having the right dish after working all day and expecting MY left overs. Lol! So I changed my rating to a C+….
