At approximately 4:32pm in the West End a dispute broke out at the corner of Lee and Oak at a local PopEyes near the West End Mall. Allegedly, the gunshots rang out when the suspect was arguing with another man once the policeman stepped in to intervene. The officer and suspect brawled for 30 seconds until he reached for his weapon, as some eyewitnesses recall as being an automatic weapon, and discharged several rounds hitting the officer in the right arm twice and once in left. He was later apprehended and handcuffed by a good Samaritan who treated the officer's wounds also
